August 2 - August 5
Friday - Day ThreeWe are going to take another trip to Toronto today to pick up Winston from the airport and to collect the shoes that Nico ordered from Brown's on Sunday. Again, a wonderful breakfast at our B&B (The Richmond Manor). Keva left early to visit a local college and after that she is going to the church to help decorate it for the wedding tomorrow. After we have our breakfast, Nico walks over to the church and I say here. Tasha and her friends, her mother and Keva are there and they do a little work but there is really not a lot to do so Nico returns after a short while. We decide to leave so that we can have a light lunch at the Mall and then pick up the shoes before we go to the airport. I have had a conversation with Eddie this morning and so far they have still not heard from Peter who was due in last night. We are hoping that this trip, all the way into Toronto, will not be in vain. As we drive in the direction of Toronto we notice that the traffic heading the other way is moving slowly and wonder if it will move as slow on our way back. We get the Yorkdale Mall and Nico heads straight to Browns to see if the shoes are there yet. To our surprise they are there having only just arrived. There is only one pair, even though Nico ordered two, but at least now she is three pairs of size four shoes richer than she was a week ago. We have lunch and then head for the airport. Winston is due to arrive at two o'clock and we arrive at around two fifteen. We circle once to see if he has come out but we don't see him so we go around again. Winston, for my Theatre Arts students out there who are reading this, is Winston Saunders who is the author of the play 'You Can Lead A Horse To Water'. For the non Theatre Arts students he is a dear family friend to the Bethel family and was Nico's late father's best friend. On our second circle around the arrival section Nico goes in to see if she can find him and I circle yet again. On my fourth time around I see Nico and Winston waiting and once I pull up, they get in the car and we are off, heading back to Barrie. The trip back to Barrie takes usually under an hour but not today. That traffic that we saw on the way in has only gotten worse. It is a holiday weekend and many people are heading north. Some are going to Barrie where there is going to be an arts and crafts festival and others are heading even further north. Because of this traffic, we have an added forty-five minutes on the road before arriving back to Barrie. We drop Winston to his hotel and then make our way back to our B&B to catch a few minutes rest before we have to go out again. There is a wedding rehearsal at the church scheduled for six-fifteen so we are back on the road in short order and heading to the church. I'm going to be video taping the wedding tomorrow so I have to see where I'm going to set up in the morning. Shortly after we arrive, Mr. Honey shows up with Peter. He had gone to airport in the mid morning to collect him and as the rehearsal proceeds Peter and I catch up on some of what's been happening in Nassau and he also tells me his travelling horror story from yesterday. The rehearsal is not very long and after getting some last minute instructions from the people at the church and from Eddie and Tasha we all head to a restaurant called The Crazy Fox. Keva is hosting a dinner tonight for the wedding party, family of the bride and groom and some close friends. There are about twenty-five people attending and from the wine and the hors d'oeuvres we can tell that it's going to be a good meal. We sit in our assigned seats and proceed. One thing that you have to understand about Eddie and Tasha is that they have everything planned out down to the minute. All seats are assigned and we are presented with a schedule for tomorrow which covers everything even the time that the caterers are to be paid. They intend this wedding to go off without a hitch. The meal is good and when we are done we drop Winston off to his hotel and come back home. Tomorrow promises to be a long day (our schedule says so) so it's early to bed. |
