Quebec City

Sunday - Day Three

Today we think that we might have a lighter day. After getting to sleep rather late last night (me watching tv & surfing the web and Nico reading a book she will have to teach at the college when we get home) we get an unexpected but pleasant wake up call. We both talk to the caller and then we again do the continental breakfast thing and when that is done we come back up to the room. Nico decides that after such a rich dinner last night she just has to work some of it off so she hits the gym to do some time on the treadmill. I pass (surprise surprise) and get online (another surprise I'm sure). We leave the hotel, in the afternoon, and start walking around the city. It's quite a different day today as the sun is out and it's actually hot. We look for an ATM, get some cash and then look for a place for lunch again, not a very hard task. We settle on a place, sit outside and have lunch.

The streets are very crowded and after lunch we start walking through the crowds.

We wander around the old town, listening to street performers and looking at the various artwork by different artists. It is indeed a quiet day! After some more sightseeing and exclaiming at the beauty of the city, after listening to bits of a concert at the port from the ramparts above and sitting in the park opposite Laval, looking at the statue of Louis Hébert, whom we've decided was Janick's ancestor, we wander back to the hotel, where Nico takes a nap.

We half plan to go back out again, to look for a meal, but instead we order room service and get an early night. We wonder whether the miles we've logged are catching up with us, or whether it's just plain laziness, but we are much more ready to hit the sack at this end of the trip than at the other. Tomorrow: Montreal.
